Dan, what is the original SW for the Kanga?
I had a terrible problem with either the Finder or the
HDD driver or both (trying 9.1, 8.6 partitions) on my
3400.
After weeks of fiddling, I got a Compaq HDD that had
never seen a Mac HDD driver. Installed and formatted
it with Disk ToolsFloppy (OS7.6) for the
3400. Now running 8.1 with the 7.6 driver, and
incomparably better - using ethernet connection and
iCab 2.9.5.
When it freezes though, I need up to 5 restarts to
load any extensions at all.
I am getting constant clicking from the HDD area - I
think it may be the fan, although I think it never
normally turns off during usage. If it's the HDD, it
isn't affecting performance.
Again, I strongly suspect the mix of drivers and
partitions did some weird corruption of the Finder (?)
on the (original) Mac ROM 1.3 Gig HDD.
I am still testing.
George
