I don't know where the Adaptec UDF Volume Access came from but I don't think you need it. I believe the Mac OS supports UDF without the need of 3rd party extensions. Try yanking it out and see what happens. Also check to see what the next extension is to load as that may be causing problems trying to load. I've always thought that the extension shows up after it loads so it might be the next one causing problems. Use Extensions Manager to see the list as not all extensions show up on the desktop when booting. Using Extensions Manager you can very easily turn off a whole bunch of things and then gradually turn one extension at a time one (rebooting after each change you make of course) until you find the problem one.
