One important difference, the 5300 takes IDE drives which allows for much larger drives than the 520s SCSI. I put a 20Gb drive in my 5300c. One trick I used with it was to create a diskcopy image of CD-ROMs and put it on the HD. It turned out to be simpler (no CDs to lug around) and faster).
How does one go about creating and using a CD image? What OS were you using?
