Does anyone know which chip on the 3400 controlls the ADB ?

Opening the PB3400 devnote . . . the "Architecture" block chart on page 11 shows the PMU IC with ADB responsibilities. Then on pages 15 and 16 we find this helpful info:

Well, that leads me to a general direction. Now I must peruse ICMaster and find out what a 68HC05 looks like.

A 68HC05 is a microprocessor and it comes in a variety of packages. 68HC05 is the generic part number and doesn't convey package information. You'll have to look over the board for it. IIRC they come in 28 and 40 pin DIP packages as well as various surface mount packages. The important thing about this is that the pin count is around 30-40 which means it's a small surface mount package.

What the heck are you up to now? <G>

I have a couple of dead 3400 motherboards that have no ADB/trackpad, so I will just swap around ADB chips. Trouble is , I never knew until now what it was.....

The 68HC05 is a mask programmed microprocessor so you can't buy one off the shelf and use it, it has to have the Apple code preprogrammed into it. The only source for that is other motherboards with working ADB.

Have you confirmed it's the ADB controller and not the trackpad. The easiest way to do this is to plug in a mouse to the external ADB port.

The most likely failure of ADB is due to a blown fuse. There are several surface mount fuses on the motherboard marked F1, F2,... Check these for continuity.
