Have you confirmed it's the ADB controller and not the trackpad. The easiest way to do this is to plug in a mouse to the external ADB port.

The trackpad works on another 3400 I have, so thats not the problem.

The most likely failure of ADB is due to a blown fuse. There are several surface mount fuses on the motherboard marked F1, F2,... Check these for continuity.

Fuses ? On a 3400 ? [Mad Dog runs over to his boards......] I cant find any. There are inductors, but no fuses that I can find. Can you point them out to me ?

I thought only the 2400 has fuses.

Well I don't know for certain there are but they are fairly common on Macs for protecting the ADB, SCSI and anything else that puts power out on an external connector (and probably other things too). They usually look like two pieces of metal with a separator between them. The metal pieces are parallel to the motherboard.

I looked again and cant find any. I am familiar with the duos -> 3500 , and as far as I know only the 2400 has fuses on it. I wish there were fuses; that would make my life easier.
