How do I turn extensions off?

Go into the Control Panels and click on Extensions Manager. Look in the (probably) Startup Items section and uncheck HP backgrounder, I'll bet it's there. That's a thing to do management of HP printers; not necessary even if you have an HP printer.

You can start with extensions off by holding down the shift key while starting up.

I'm sorry if my questions are too basic for this list. Let me know if I am too much of a newbie and I will stop posting things like this.

Everyone's a newbie once...the only way we ever got to be oldbies is through the help of other former newbies. Ask away.
