Actually, those 5xx, 5300, 190, and 3400/Kanga keyboards are MUCH MUCH worse than iMac keyboards. They require a lot of force to activate them, its impossible to type on them at any high speed without tiring out your fingers and joints from applying so much pressure, They're ALL terrible I've owned every singled one of those mentioned machines and they're the worst keyboards in the history of western civilization. The Duos had smaller versions, and they were equally terrible. Words cannot describe how bad they were. They just got worse and worse with age. I remember some were so stiff they would require me to move my hands from the home row and focus my attention on one single key. Wait, why am I saying remember? I still HAVE THEM!!!! Have you ever seen those really slim calculators, like the ones that they build into datebooks and onto "credit card calculators". They have those buttons that are like kindof molded into the surface of the calculator, so that they're not separate pieces but all one big solid thing, and you have to press them kindof hard to get them to work. Well typing on a well aged 5xx/5300/190/3400/Kanga keyboard is like trying to type on one of those. Thats the best way I can describe it. When you say you couldn't stand the 5xx keyboard, I COMPLETELY agree with you. We are absolutely on the same page with that one. I hate them so much. Worst Apple product ever made in my opinion. Just aweful. I would take an iMac keyboard over any of them in a heartbeat. In fact, while the iMac had a bad mouse, I don't understand what is wrong with the keyboard? All of mine work fantastic, types great. Its no AEKII but it is leagues ahead of those aweful keyboards. The 1400 has a nice keyboard I hear. I wonder if its on par with the stunning keyboard on my Wallstreet? I've never seen a 1400 in real life :( An iMac keyboard wouldn't work on a 1400 anyway, that requires USB, which the 1400 doesn't have nor can it be upgraded too. I recommend if you want an external keyboard, find an Apple Extended Keyboard II, considered by many the best Apple keyboard ever made. It will work with your 1400's ADB port. Sorry to go on and on, but I hate hate hate hate those keybaords. Messed up my typing something major. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
