Hi Wayne
What are the specs of the mac and what OS are you running.
Also when you replaced the monitor did you use the same cables. as if
not there might be a nick in one of them.
Also are you sure that you put the Mac back together correctly is
there any spare screws.
Does it work perfect in every other way.
I seem to remember this happening with one of the laptops i had (but
a clean OS install solved it)
Lastly even if i got a new laptop for christmas it would not stop me
using my 520 (parts mac) my 2400 powerbook or my 3400 powerbook, as i
like the older books best, and only use my G4 Ti if it is something i
cannot do on my 2400 or 3400. and thats not much the Ti is more of a
sitting on the desk pretty thing at the moment, complimenting the
mini connected to a 20" LCD,
Also rather than getting a new mac (which would of been cheaper) i
got my Daughter a G4 Tower D A, and an apple LCD and maxed it all
out, as i even like the look of the older desktops. (would of got her
a cube if i could of found one in time).
What you need to remember is that even though in the windows world,
This weeks new spec is outdated next week by a newer spec. Macs tend
to stay current for a while and as you use a 1400 you know yourself
that they are usable even when they get old (in the world of
computing) where as the windows box's tend to give up the ghost.
Plus its a MAC and you gotta luv it.

Since I got no response on the list to my question about screen
dimness, I
replaced the screen with a used one. It looks much better but now
crashes
the machine when I close the lid while it's on. The only way to get
it to
come back on is to push the reset button on the back.
Anyone got any ideas on this? Or everybody's got new laptops for
Christmas
and no longer care about 1400s?
