I'm running OS 8.6 on my PTP (G3/Newer 250) with the Jackhammer narrow SCSI
card (SE-A in Slot A1) , Control Panel 1.3.2 without any problems.
Connected to it are a 4.2G 'Grand Prix,
an 8.1G Seagate and a Syquest 135 mb removeable

Below is the readme for the software:
Cheers...Michael

""I'm upgrading to OS 8 what version of the Jackhammer control panel do I
need?"
Jackhammer control panel version 1.3 for PCI Jackhammer and 3.2 for NuBus
Jackhammer cards.

Symptom: "My MAC won't start after I put in the Jackhammer card." or " I go
to start my MAC and I get a gray screen and cursor only" or "I want to test
my Jackhammer card"

Causes: One SCSI bus is not terminated or expansion slot is bad or card is
not seated or
Firmware corruption on the Jackhammer card.
Solutions: Flash the Jackhammer.
All users: This test will not run if your boot drive is attached to the
Jackhammer card. You
must have a bootable drive with the Jackhammer control panel installed on
the native MAC
SCSI bus.
For PCI Jackhammers,
1. Hold the COMMAND, OPTION and J Keys down.
2. Start the MAC.
3. At the "Welcome to Macintosh" screen release the 3 keys. If the MAC
does not start shut
the computer down. Remove the SCSI cables from the Jackhammer and start over.
4. Let the MAC finish starting.
5. Check that the "Caps Lock" key is up.
6. Hold the COMMAND key down.
7. Open the "PCI SCSI Jackhammer" control panel.

8. A dialog box should appear:
Customers with one Jackhammer installed may now release the COMMAND key.
Customers
with multiple Jackhammer's will need to hold the COMMAND key until the last
card has
started it's test. Hint: I use a stapler to hold the command key while
these tests run.
This test runs for about 2 minutes and give detailed error messages. Please
note any error
messages. If the card passes all test it will return the the control panel,
as below.
9. If the card did not pass the tests: Shut down the MAC. Remove all
cables from the card and
start at Step #1.
10. If the card wont pass the test with the cable(s) off reseat the card in
the same expansion
slot then try another slot in the computer.
