I have the same model as you, and my configuration is similar although I
do have a G3 400 upgrade card. I had an Adaptec 2940UW card for almost
two years, and now have their 29160 UW card, with two internal hard
drives running on it, in addition to a hard drive and CD-ROM running on
the system bus. I have done several system upgrades, now running on
OS9.1, without any problem. I think I did do a firmware upgrade on the
2940 card, but not in conjunction with system upgrade. In short, system
upgrades have never affected my SCSI card. I also have a USB PCI card,
and a video capture card.
