I made a post the other day about crashes using OS 8.1 vs. no crashes using
7.6.1 on a PowerComputing Powerbase 200.

A couple of folks advised me to install 8.6
I've since installed 7.6.1 and have had zero crashes in four days vs. 7 or
8 a day with 8.1.

Question: Is 8.1 analogous to 7.5.3 in that it took Apple until 7.6.1 to
work out the System 7 bugs and perhaps until 8.6 to work out the System 8
bugs?

If so, I'd love to try OS 8.6 if there's a way to access it on a budget.

Thanks.
