the message related to the Powerbase (603e @ 240 mHz) which has three ram slots, the first of which can only recognize up to a 32MB dimm. The PowerCenterPro (604e @ 240 mHz) has 4 ram slots which can recognize up to 128MB dimm in any slot. They share the quality of having been boosted to top speed, which can cause problems if things like dimm speed and refresh rates aren't looked at closely. ie mixing 70 ns dimms with 60 ns (specified) dimms.or 2k refresh dimms mixed with 1 or 4 k refresh dimms. Many, if not most Macs use the (slower) 70 ns dimms. The last number(s) on most dimm IC's indicate the speed (ie 7 or 70) check your dimm #'s at http://www.chipmunk.nl/DRAM/ChipManufacturers.htm PowerComputing was always pushing the speed envelope, and used faster components to do so.
