It seems the culprit to all my problems was installing Quickdraw software on
the initial OS installation. After turning that option off for the install,
everything was stable. I upgraded straight to OS8.6 with the same option of
not installing Quick Draw and so far it seems to be running well.

Now, for my next question, those of you who are running OS9.1, is it not
necessary to have your hard drive formatted not standard but extended-HFS+?
And if that is true, did you install your OS directly from the OS 9 disk, or
did you start with the Power Computing disk (mine is 7.6) and work your way
up? I ask because when initializing and formatting your hard drive with the
Power Computing disk, which is FWB, you only have the option of formatting
the drive standard or HFS. Thus, you cannot install OS 9.1. Any tips for
this installation would very much be appreciated.

Thanks,

X
