Try pulling the plug and battery and letting it sit for 20 minutes or so.
Frankly, it sounds like your power supply bit the green weenie.
A cheap fix? Check eBay for another powerbase. They're goiong pretty cheap
these days,
you have all the parts for a swap out, and it's not a bad idea having a
'hangar queen' laying about.
