Just to inform you, I recently got a 5 port USB PCI card from SIIG that's supposed to work for OS 8.6 and above. It could not be recognized on my PTP 225 by either OS 8.6 nor OS 9. I have an older el-cheapo card installed that I got from eBay a few years ago and it works perfectly. Don't even know what brand it is now.

Tech support for the new card wasn't much help but what they suggested was to remove the USB drivers/extensions, remove the card and re-install in a different slot, then re-install the USB extensions. Might work for you. Didn't for me and no one knows why.

Andrew,

I just noted that you are using a Kouwell I/O Flex 5-Port PCI USB 2.0 Host
Controller.

I recall that another manufacturer (Belkin?), on its 4- or 5-port USB PCI
cards, said in its specs that it required at least a B&W G3. I asked the
list a year or two ago about this, and received confirmations from others
that indeed, that card wouldn't work in a Power Computing machine.

Can you get your hands on a 2-port card (I've picked them up for about $10)
and see if it works?

Thanks for the suggesion, Chuck. I just downloaded the Apple USB driver and
installed it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to help.

I haven't tried the Zip drive (I forgot it at work today), but my pen drive
doesn't work. The LED comes on for a few seconds after I plug it in, but
nothing shows up on the desktop.

I am wondering if the fact that I installed OS 9.1 from an iMac CD could be
the source of my problems.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks,
adh

I am having fits trying to install a USB adapter in my Power Tower Pro. I
would appreciate it if anyone out there has any suggestions for me.

The Apple USB driver is always a good thing to try: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=31132

This simple step has resolved USB problems for many Power Computing users.

IOMEGA support says that I may have a bad disk. I will get me a new, Mac
formatted disk to check this out. The disk I have is PC formatted and it
works fine with my PC at work.

I've never had troubles using PC-formatted Zip disks in Macs.

In fact, Iomega recommends that you use PC formatted disks in your Mac if
you plan to use them in PCs, too.
