Hello. I'm a newbie on this list, and this is my first post. I waited a week
or so before posting, hoping my question would be answered. And I'm hoping
that this isn't a common, newbie question. :-)

I have a PowerWave 150 (604) that my kids use. I just discovered recently
that it is possible to throw a G4 processor into this baby. I am amazed by
the expandability of this baby, and have begun seriously to consider
upgrading this computer with both a new processor, tons of ram and maybe a
3D card.

My questions are such:

1. If I can upgrade this computer, can I get it to run X? I did some
looking, but I must have looked in the wrong places, because I couldn't find
info either way. If so, where can I find info on how to install it? (I'm
thinking of getting the family pack)

2. If I can upgrade this computer--is it worth it??? I know I can buy a used
iMac and such, but then, what do I do with this computer? I don't really
want to sell it, especially as, in its current configuration, it really
doesn't have much in the way of value. If I'm within a couple hundred
dollars of another computer (over or under), it seems to me that it would be
worth it. However, are there potential pitfalls I'm unaware of? I would
appreciate any advice along these lines. We've had this computer for about a
year, but I've not really done much with it, other than pull the horrid
original CD drive (which caused crashes on a regular basis). I may know
Macs, but I don't know Power Computing. :-)

3. What 3D graphics cards are recommended for this computer? I get the
impression that it is rather finicky. Any cards to avoid?

Just for a little background. I am no stranger to Macs. I've been using them
since the days of the Mac Plus and SE. I've owned a Classic, Performa 600
(IIvx), upgraded it to a Quadra 650, from whence I moved to laptops, and
currently own and use a Pismo/400 (my wife uses a second) and besides the
kids' Powerwave, also the owner/caretaker of: a PowerBook 1400, Duo 230,
280c and 2300c. As you can guess, my area of expertise is more geared
towards Powerbooks. :-)

Any advice, help or insight you all can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
