Hello everyone. I'm also new to this list. The reason I joined was because I recently purchased a PowerTower Pro to the do the G4 upgrade. I'm very excited about building a machine I always wanted for a fraction of the cost.
In response to jonglass post, in the August issue of Macworld magazine page 58, there is a great article on " Building a Mac Clone". It didn't specifically mention the Power Wave but any pci-based box should work. The Sonnet Crescendo PCI G4 processor was the what they mentioned in terms of an upgrade for the processor, that's what I'll be purchasing. As far as the video card goes I'm looking an ATI Radeon card so I can use an LCD monitor with the Power Tower Pro. Yes you can run MacOS X by downloading a copy of the freeware XPostFacto at http"//eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto. Is the upgrade worth it????? You bet it is. The main reason I haven't bought a new G4 was because of cost. Now for less than half the price of a new G4 I can build my own the way I want it.
