Help! I have been running Netscape 4.0.6 on my PowerCenter 132/G3 256 M RAM. After loading a bunch of new e-mail addresses for my club, the address book suddenly stopped functioning. I can do everything else, but as soon as I put an address on new e-mail, Netscape quits.
Looking at the address book, I noticed a bunch of blank entries from nowhere. If I scroll down too fast I get an error message that Netscape is running out of memory, even though it has three times the "recommended daily allowance" allocated. I installed NS 4.8 (available free from SillyDog.org) but I cannot import my address book file. I looked everywhere (It's supposed to be under Preferences) but nothing resembling my old address book showed up. (Same BTW for my Bookmark file.) I tried to save my address book to a predetermined folder, so I could look at the entries and possibly clean up the data base. Guess what? The whole thing froze! I have run DiskWarrior and Virex, rebuilt the desktop - several times. Still the same problem. Does anyone have any (software-level) suggestions?
