This has been a real problem with Netscape. I have lost all my addresses and bookmarks about seven times over the years. You did not mention what OS you are using.
If it is 8.5 to 9.2 here is a solution. Open the system file Folder. Open the preferences folder. In the preference folder find Netscape. Open the netscape file and find a users folder. Select the folder with the name you are using. Copy this to a floppy, CD or what have you. All your Netscape preferences. Bookmarks and Email addresses are contain therein.
You cannot just put it on the desktop. It will be changed by anything you initiate.
Install the New Netscape. Then put your saved User preference folder into the new preference file (replace).
Sadly this doesn't always work. The Netscape Email program has proved to be the best in everyday use FOR ME ... But it is as maddening as MicroSuck Crash/Ware when upgrading. That is why I am still using 7.0 ... I'm afraid to upgrade.
Go through your Internet and Netscape preferences very carefully and see
if there is a Check box, limiting the number of persons for your address book ... that may be your problem.
I would also suggest you throw away all the MicroSuck, Opera, Yahoo, Eudora and any other Email preferences, Extensions, control Panels etc.
BTW, having contacted Yahoo about something, I have gone from one spam in twenty E-mails, to seven or eight in 20 ... may they die with an erection.
To me, the main new feature of Nutscrape 7.0 is the ability to print out your address book. It is a mess with only 4 or 5 persons per page but better than loosing all the Email addresses. I've been unable to print out my Bookmarks but that might be cockpit trouble..
I find a Palm Pilot too bulky and prone to damage. Falls out of pocket ... $100 exchange. Good old Daytimer Jr. (or Compact) pocket works best for me. It's faster (and more considerate of the other person's time) to jot something down with a pencil than wasting minutes with the stylus and all the miscues. The Palm Pilot makes a good data base of address, birthdays, ongoing To Do's, Air Conditioner filter size etc. in my brief case ... which stays in the conveyance.
