Good reaction. While the FSB is slow by todays standards. The TPT's were/are real workhorse computers. Lots of expansion room, plenty of RAM capacity, lots of PCI slots. ZIF mounted CPU, An excellent candidate for kit bashing.

1. Buy new disk that can be used to backup the existing hard disk.
2. Back up the current system hard disk.
3. Run Disk repair and cleanup the disk.
All reasonable for a computer of unknown origin that's 8 years old.

4. Buy an upgrade CD for OS 8.6 or OS 9.1
Readily available on fleaBay or from numerous Mac vendors.

5. Buy a PCI USB and FW adapter card
Worth having but you'll need to upgrade to the OS to do so.

6. Hookup to Internet Router through the Ethernet RJ45 connector
It will work fine. It's a standard 10/100 Ethernet with an RJ45 connector

7. Commence exploring the Low-End-Mac world

Where do I find a good SCSI drive to use as my backup?
Consider a controller card and using an IDE / ATA drive. SCSI drives are scarce except for the very high end units for video and server use. (Very expensive compared to ATA)

Does 8.6 or 9.1 come with a web Browser?
IE is included with both. But look at Mozilla for a modern web browser that is free.

If I were to consider upgrading the daughter card to a G3 or G4 processor
how much can I expect it to cost? I would like to keep the expense under
$300. Seems I can but an iMac for about that on e-bay. But being a PC guy I
like the form factor of this PTP.
The earlier ZIF upgrades are pretty reasonable on fleaBay and the Swap list. OWC still has a new Sonnet ZIF card for $169.00.

Finally, will I be able to integrate the Mac into my LAN? As a web server?
Integrating depends on the various flavors of peecees and OS's you have on it, but basically yes to both.
