The Power Logix 450 G4 daughter card gave me hell and wasted about 30 hours of my time ... until the heat sink and fan came loose and FRIED the chip. Sort of a Jury Rig set up. IT was cheap ... As my buddy say's, "Cheep, Cheep, that's bird talk." The bitter taste of defective products, linger long after the sweet smell of a low price. I have used several Sonnet cards and have had problems with only one. It come dead in the box. Made a call and got the replacement before I could get the defective one into the mail. From the .040 board on my Granddaugters Mac llvx, two PCP's w/400 G3 cards, two PTP's w 500 G3 cards ... nothing but great service out of Sonnet products. > Will it be necessary to buy a daughter card? or do I use the existing > daughter card and add a processor? It all depends on what you are using it for. The G4 450MHz is fast. Mine with the G4 card would actually scroll too fast . If a 500MHz G3 isn't fast enough, Get the G4 with as much horse power as your wallet will stand. > > I use a NAT router and have so far not needed a software firewall on any of > my systems. I have Norton Personal Firewall. Every 5 to ten minutes, I get a yellow box warning that someone is trying to break into my computer. At this very moment, there's one in the corner with the message: Norton Personal Firewall: acess DENIED At 12/29/04 00:42:59 an access attempt was denied to Windows file sharing, port 139, from IP address 69.226.16.85 Scares the h...hu... hu... heck out of me > > I have seen several SCSI drives on eBay.
