Hi all
I've got this old Pinnacle RCD5040 that I'd like to use for burning CDs on my PTP, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Its a 2x SCSI unit so it won't be taxing the I/O subsystems very much on this thing-or for that matter a Performa 637 ;-). In Apple System Profiler the disk is seen with all seven LUNs, so its got a series of IOSCSIParallel device entries. Toast 3.5 or 4.1 can't see the drive, they probably don't know what to make of the LUN situation and X doesn't allow ANY hardware bangin' like 9 did :-( This burner is device 5 on the external (slow) SCSI chain, its there along with two hard drives which work fine, so I think the SCSI chain is OK, its actively terminated at the Pinnacle drive which is last in the chain. All my cables are short and fat so I'm reasonably sure they're OK.
So, are there any SCSI utilities available for OS X? Is there any way for me to tell the OS to see it as one LUN? Or do I have to buy the OS X version of Toast?
What if I go the other way and buy an ATA133 card, they're about $65 on eBay, and hook up my Pioneer DVR-A07XLA 8x8 DVD +-R/RW burner? Is there a built-in OS X utility that will burn CDs for me, including the occasional ISO image->CD recreation? Will a modern Mac ATA133 card see a DVD burner? I don't need to boot from it, just be able to watch DVDs and burn them with it. Will the old Toast be presented by OS X with a burner it can use? I also have an HP 9300i CD ROM burner that I can use, although I'd rather have the Superdrive option ;-)
Thanks again for answering all my questions!
