Michael is correct. I have two machines running this same card. One PTP 225 and One PCP240. This may sound simplistic, but you do have the Sonnet enabler ("Sonnet Processor Upgrade 1.4.5) SW installed and placed in your extensions folder?

I'm assuming you are running OS 9.1 ???.

Weird that the monitor won't work. Don't remember anyone having problems with a video card on a Sonnet upgrade ... though I have one on a PCP210 with Sonnet 400MHz G3 card, that will boot up with Giant Desktop & Icons if the monitor isn't turned on when it boots.

My wife say's I have two mistresses, Triumph Motorcycles and Macintosh computers.

Ensure that the cache dimm has been removed from the mobo. The G3 cpu module carries a backside cache which replaces the need for the slot mounted dimm.

from xlr8yourmac:

Q: Should I remove my L2 cache dimm if I install a G3 CPU card?

A: In 99% of cases, yes. It's almost always a source of problems, from inability to boot to instability and frequent lockups.

Some fast 1MB caches may run fine - but they may not either. You can't assume the same bus speed that was reliable with a 604 CPU card will run reliably with a G3 CPU Card. The G3 card's timing seems far more critical. I noted the issue of removing cache in my L2 cache dimm page back when the first G3 cards arrived.

The #1 cause of G3 upgrade problems is the motherboard cache. If you can, remove it before installing the card. (In cases of 9500's, 9600s up to 233mhz, Umax S900's and other macs with soldered in 512K cache on the motherboard, you can't remove it but most all recent G3 card vendor's software lets you disable it in the control panel for the g3 card).

Cheers...Michael
