I could have bought a G5 for what I've put in my PTpro over the years.......

But, as you said. Most of what I have learned about computers I can
attribute to playing with my PTPro.

I had my PTPro since I bought it in 1997 new from PowerComputing
through one of their last sales they had in MacAddict magazine. It was
a workhorse for several years until the CD-ROM died and needed
replaced. I didn't know anything about working on computers at the
time , in fact I had never even opened it to see what's inside.

I went to a local "authorized dealer" here and ended up buying a used
beige G3DT because it was cheaper than a new CD-ROM. That was the last
time I ever went there again !

I soon learned I got screwed and could have bought a used CD-ROM for
as little as 10 bucks and would have the PTPRo to use instead of the
POS beige G3. The guy that sold me the G3 is exactly why Apple opened
their own stores although they are not much better. I've been to a
couple of the Apple Stores and haven't been impressed by anything but
the Mac and the design aspects of the store.

As you can guess the beige G3 is long gone and the PTPro is still
chugging along. It's been a learning experience but I wish I didn''t
have to learn about beige G3's in the process. I really dislike the
beige G3's and I'm glad their logicboards didn't end up in the clones.
