SEE BELOW > Is there a limit to the size of hard drive? > I have available a 40GB I'd like to use. Should work fine. Problem with anything over 100GB : a. If you are running Norton Utilities to check the disk and defrag it ... it takes forever. b. If you fill it up with content, it will take hours to index the contents with Sherlock. > Does anyone have an extra IDE controller they'd part with? I have allways had good luck with Sonnet Products. RIGHT NOW, I'm Wintering in Calif. and using a PCP 240 W/ SONNET 500MHg G3 daughter card - 512MB RAM.- RAGE 128 VIDEO PCI Card.. Having said all that, I have just installed a Sonnet IDE controller card, a Hatachi 82 GB ATA/IDE hard drive and a Sonnet USB/Firewire 400 PCI card..All three PCI slots are now full. With the G3 card there was an excellent manual. Before there was a problem with a G3 400MHz card put in a PCP 210 and a quick phone call to the Tech Squad quickly solved it. Not so with the USB/Firewire card and the video controller card. There was an incomplete set of instructions in three languages on the box. Nothing else. The ribbon cable with the video card was flimsey with one bare wire showing. Got it all together, pushed the cuda button for 45 seconds to be extra safe and it worked rather clunky. Couldn't install the Sonnett Cresendo G3 enabler software for the daughter card. Ran Apple Profiler and the Disk drive ... set to "0" showed up at Station 2 same as my internal Jazz drive. Since I had bought all this from OWC and their [EMAIL PROTECTED] OWC.net software wouldn't send e-mail ... I CALLED THEIR TECH HELP. FIrst night, I spent 20 minutes on hold and hung up to eat supper. Called again the next morning. After holding for over 20 minutes, I talked to a nice polite young man, THAT WAS OF NO HELP. What he told me about the ISP Set Up configuration didn't work (I found out later). He sent a test message which I received hours later BUT STILL COULDN't SEND EMAIL., He sugested I call Sonnet on the other problems. Called Sonnet and after 30 minutes on hold, left a voice mail with all info and my phone number. IT's 17 hours later and I've yet to hear from them. AS to the Sonnet USB/Firewire card. The USB/FIrewire 160 GB external Hard Drive (Back-Up) worked fine for one day. Now, it drops the connection to the CPU. Checked the firewire cable and can find no problem. IT's a good heavy sucker. Have restarted so many times, NOW, IT won't even recognize the External drive. Probably corrupted something. I'm web mailing from my old ISP (Cowtown.net) which is good until March ... since can't get out with OWC.net. My eMails to Michael Macdonald come back as undeliverable, so maybe he's gone to Japan for the Holidays and his mail box is filled up. AND the List Mom keeps filling my inbox with these damn "Warning" messages. RHB ... OFF LINE at [EMAIL PROTECTED] -The optimist says the glass is half full. The pessimist says it is half empty.
