Thanks to all who have replied to my post.
I have got some very informative info. I don't want to spend that much
on an upgrade to the PowerCenter because I know it will probably not
work as smoothly as I would like and it may be difficulty to get OS X
installed. I really only use it for backup purposes and occasionally I
use it for some other OS 9 stuff. So if I can get it upgraded and
running OS X cheaply I'll probably go that route.
I recently retired the beige G3 and put its upgrades into a B&W G3 I
got for $50 on eBay. You wouldn't believe it, but the speed difference
is unbelievable. And you don't need XPostfacto to install OS X.
Rick, thanks for the suggestion about the B&W. I'm going to keep that
possibility in mind. I'll keep checking ebay for a reasonable price
and shipping charges (I'm in Canada). A quick glance at ebay for
B&W's in Canada seems to indicate that prices are pretty reasonable and
that it may even be cheaper to go that route. However, the tinkerer in
me wants to see if I can actually get the PowerCenter working with OS
X.
