I have had the same issues. I have since moved from Palm Desktop to
Missing Sync, gives you a small application for dealing with memos rather
than requiring launching all of Palm Desktop just to see them, and
overall I've been pretty pleased with the product.

But moreover, I've basically retrained myself to use To-Do's instead of
memos, and then they're just right there inside iCal. It's a little
kludgy of course, but in the end it works better, because I give my memo
a name (that's the To-Do) and then click Details->Note. Then whatever I
type there shows up neatly in the Info pane of iCal. Of course it works
the other way too.

Sorry, I know this isn't specifically PowerMail related, but I came
across it while trying to figure out the best way to handle PowerMail<-
>Address Book synchronization. It's a little confusing, as has been noted
here.
