Well, I shouldn't have implied this was always so. But under the
circumstances I persdonally was in and some other individuals, with
schedule settings and specific accounts and so on, if some unknown
connection errors occured, messages frequently (not always) just sat
there until I selected them all in the list, set them to draft with the
popup and back.

I assume PM thought there still was a connection though nothing were
visible in the process window and that the mode change reset this wait state.

I'm not alone in this "stuck messages" experience as my PowerMail
discussions archive can tell.
