Mikael: The easiest solution: switch to PM4 ;-)

Now seriously:
When you have the following checkbox checked:
Accounts -> Options... -> 'systematically retrieve all messages'
on your particular mail-account, then PM downloads _all_ the messages
that are (left) on the server.

If this checkbox is unchecked, then I cannot help you, as I am on PM4 for
quite some time now.
