On about every connection I get now on several accounts, I get seemingly
random double messages and sometimes even up to quadruple copies of the
same message. The problem have been realated to several accounts but not
all and also to just some messages from a particular connection. I
suspected a mail filter was involved first, but none of the ones that
have been involved seem erroneous and then the same error occured in the
inbox with mail that never to my knowledge was touched by a filter. I now
replaced some of the filters anyway.

The problem do disappear of course if I set PM to delete mail when
connecting, but I'd prefer to keep it for a while on the server for
security reasons. The most serious reason not to delete mail after
getting it, is that connections take considerably much longer time to
finish the connection. This is a drag on 56k modem, but bearable I guess
on T1. The erratic behavior of PM when connecting will obviously be
increased by deleting mail on every connection, which makes that problem
even more hard to cope with.
This aspect also indicates that the problem really is that PM is getting
the same mail several times. But why is it?

Is this known problem with a known solution? Any ideas?
