Browns Ferry allows drinking water in the RCA on a case by case basis
and it is procedurally controlled. It is used in heat stress
environments.

This is a timely question as our corporate group is looking at revising
their procedure to meet what it states in 05-008. By having to
implement contamination monitoring controls similar to the plant RCA
exit for gaining access to these areas. This will remove the
possibility to have drinking water stations due to the high background.

Even though it states in 05-008 it may be used in some circumstances for
heat stress, that option is about to be taken away. Hopefully the
personnel safety issues will prevail and they will not implement this
proposed change to our corporate procedures

Subject: Powernet: Drinking Water in RCA

Davis-Besse is in a reactor head replacement outage. We have been
requested multiple times to stage water at our personnel hatch to
containment so that workers can refresh themselves, which has been
refused (except for emergency purposes). My question is how many of you
provided/allow drinking water in the RCA for routine use.

Thanks
