SONGS uses the SKC XR5000

- Rated at 5 LPM, we use it at 4 LPM
- Maintains flow with high filter DP
- Li-Ion battery charges in one hour or so, and runs 20 hours with lapel charcoal and filter.  Also has double size battery for 40 hours if needed.
- Nice 5 unit multi-chargers, easy to use
- Option for alkaline batteries available
- Can be programmed for delay start and preset sample time
- Downside is flow can be changed in setup menu (not password protected),  have to teach folks not to adjust it.
- They may not bounce as well as some other brands without damage.  I would say not flimsy, but also not rugged.
- They are very small and light, no time to measure them

Powernet: RE: Lapel Air Sampling

At Robinson we currently use MSA Escorts and as well as Gillian Lapels.  We sample at 3 lpm which is highest rate we can for these pumps.  Based on what I have recently heard, I would like to have the F&J Lapels that sample as standard man breathing rate of 20 lpm.  I would like to hear from some plants that are using these myself – battery life would be only drawback I can think of off hand….

Powernet: Lapel Air Sampling

All,
Do you use personal lapel air samplers?
If so, what make/model? Advantages/disadvantages?
At DCPP we do not use personal lapel samplers.
Thanks!
