I just want to note this . I'm a longtime mac User , facing yet another Transition . Every Transition made me buy a lot of new stuff , new Hardware & new Software . Now where on hour way to the Intel x86 platform , this will make me buy expensive Apple hardware which will infact be nothing more then something i would have could build myself for about half the price of it .
Apple says that OS X will only run on Apple Hardware , the question is am i willing to try . Maybe i am , if not i could swith to Solaris x86 but to know that i need to know if Solaris is any good . I never used Solaris before , i like to catogories it as one of the *nixes with a system wide gui & ( practical) no use for CLI by a user like NeXT-OpenStep & OS X, therefor i think Solaris is a good alternative i think . it would be nice to test Solaris on my current Mac so i can test to see if it forfills my needs , i hope your PPC port will therefor support Apple G3 based Macs ( others too ofcourse ) & will be floating around before Apple introduces 10.5 . Good Luck This message posted from opensolaris.org
