A long shot perhaps but if your EE friend can find some kind of number on
the lamp he might be able to search electronic part web sites or catalogs
for the lamp. It's very doubtful that Polaroid (or Microtek) actually makes
their own lamps.

Good luck!

Subject: [PRODIG] Polaroid Sprintscan

And...

Our Polaroid Sprintscan 45 Ultra packed up recently refusing to initialise.
An electronics engineer friend has it on his bench and lamp failure would
appear to be the cause. Polaroid want the princely sum of 450 plus parts
plus VAT to fix it (which is why my friend has it)
and...surprise...surprise...won't supply a replacement lamp. As far as I am
aware the thing is built by Microtek but a search of their web site is less
than helpful because it only refers to Microtek products. Since I am not
into daylight (balanced) robbery does anyone out there know of a source of
scanner lamps in the sub 450 quid bracket?
