Just to be clear. Shouldn't files from different sources look the same if the 
sources have all been profiled to reach the same result? Even if the monitor 
is way off colour the images should match each other. 

Take as an example a trannie scanned on several devices. Surely the idea of a 
profile on each device should mean that the eyedropper numbers are the same 
for any given area? Wouldn't the eyedropper numbers be the same image to 
image irrespective of monitor condition?
