Planes cabins are pressurized to max equivalent altitudes in the 5- 7
thousand feet zone so neither of the above cases come near to Mark's advice
where problems could be expected at 10 grand plus.

I have used my 1Gb Microdrive at about 9 grand with no problems. If, like
Mark you regularly shoot in Alpine Ski resorts at 3000M+ solid state
devices, despite their higher cost, would seem to be advisable.

As I occasionally take my microdrive with me whilst hang gliding (remember
that Mark?!) to quite high altitudes I'll be investing in a flash card for
my "flying" camera as soon as I can save up for one.

Yours aye,
