Don't try and use a microdrive up a mountain though. The drive is floating on a cushion of air.
Hi,

I've not heard of this before - how serious a problem could it be? Are there any web sites discussing it, seeing as I might be using one for this purpose?

I looked into compact flash and microdrives six months ago and eventually found the specs. for microdrives which stated that they should not be taken above 3000 metres (10,000ft). So for me in the Alps this is a problem I don't want to find how serious it could be.

I cannot remember where I saw this maybe dpreview.com or robgalbraith.com.

I'm buying 512mb Ridata compact flash from Austrialia for 130 which is not far off microdrive prices and there are no moving parts to go wrong.

Regards

Mark
