In theory the 9600 motherboard doesn't support ultra scsi, so probably the long delay time is due to it trying to work out what the hell has been attached. That drive should be running on its own scsi chain on an ultrawide scsi card. Anyway, even if it does work as now set up, as soon as you connect another scsi device the chain will revert to the slower speed thus negating any speed benefit from the drive.
