However, if you can't get your cd drive to mount the OS, you will still have a problem loading an OS onto the new drive - so I think you have to make sure the cd will see the OS CD . Given that when I visited you we managed to open your PC originated cds on my powerbook, I think you definitely need to either clean the heads on your cd drive (as someone suggested earlier) or get a new cd drive. Did you manage to find drivers for the other cd drive you have been trying?
