I wonder if someone can give me a prompt and knowledgable reply on the
following problem I have encountered on my G4 Dual processor 1Ghz, 10.2.2.

I was in the process of backing up my work using Ecrix, when my computer
suddenly died on me.

1. I ran the Hardware Test CD, and it said everything was fine.

2. I have tried Command S.

3. Zapping PRAM

4. Installing OS X install CD

5. Installing OS 9 install CD

6. Installing restore OS X CDs.

But whatever I try I cannot see my hard disk. I presume it's dead, but I
would have thought that the Hardware test CD would have noticed a dead hard
drive? Does anyone have any ideas, and if I do need a new drive, any tips on
what would be the best drive to get installed (under warranty). I vaguely
remember that there were issues with a brand/model of drive installed in
Apple computers that had a bad reputation for failing.

Fortunately, I have still one month left on my warranty.

Also, a recommendation for an Authorised Mac Repair company would be
helpful. I am based in NW London.

Please reply soon.
