Phillip - not attempting to state the obvious, but as mentioned before it is
probably best to think of these as 'aim prints' rather than contract proofs.
If the printer and client are both happy to accept your aim print as a
contract proof, then I would be more accommodating of the term. Many, if not
most printers do not like to be held accountable to other people's
proofing - even more so in the scary new age of digital proofs.

Many of the users on this list can do their own aim prints or in some cases
proofing - and there is a scheme called 'pro-file' which some list members
are trying to float, you can read more about here:

And yes, for some or indeed many this may be a handy service - even more so
if you can hold up an analogue proof next to your digital proof in the
viewing box and show the client how great your results are.
