Dear Paul Thanks anyway. I don't think the hard disk connector has jumped off or I assume that the Apple Hardware Test disk would not have reported it OK.
The latest idea, and the only one I haven't tried from the Apple help site, is to download a 9.2.1 startup disk onto this working machine, burn a CD and hopefully boot from that. The only problem is its a nine to ten hour download on this slow Cornish connection! Not sure if AOL allows ten hour connections. I'm sorry I can't be more help, but I'm stumped. I don't suppose it's worth opening the case and checking that the hard disk connector hasn't jumped off... -- best wishes Paul >> =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
