Hi All,
I would like some advice about using a Mac monitor on a
PC.
I have a shoot coming up which is being shot digitally,
I am still film based, so in situations like this I
simply hire what I need. Normally its a Phase one H5
with a Mac and a profiled Mac 17 inch monitor.
However this time out the hire company is suggesting I
take a PC, the reason being that the PC version of
Capture One, the Phase One software, is more developed,
in particular it has the ability to 'develope' more
than one version of the raw caprure at the same time.
This will be a great time saver for me as I need an
18mb tiff and a jpeg of each image. I can get both
files at the time of shooting rather than doing a batch
convresion afterwards, there will be around 600 images
shot over 15 days.
When I asked what type of monitor I would get with the
PC they said they would supply the same Mac 17 inch
monitor.
Is this a good idea, given that there is a difference
in gamma between Mac & PC monitors?
Will I get an accurate on screen preview?
Any guidance on this matter would be greatly
appreciated,
Also, all the photographs will be taken in what is
essentially a large fridge, the temperature will be
6-10 degrees, any tips on using digital cameras &
computers in a cold environment?
Thanks
John Geoghegan.
