Doesn't this sound a bit like the Polaroid backs that used to be
available for some 35mm cameras a few years ago, I believe the camera
back had to be removed, presumably the original digital film idea - a
film canister with a very thin sensor that fitted in the film track -
has been expanded to a digital back (like the optional data back
available for some cameras) with a separate box for the storage and
power?
