Dear David It all comes down to viewing distances. Many years ago one of the London ad agencies did a paper on the subject. According to their findings 35mm Kodachrome was preferred for 48 sheet posters while 10x8 was advised for bus shelter posters. The reason was that people stood a lot closer to bus shelters than they did to 48 sheet billboards.
