Janus. I've had that problem several times on my 90 mm lens. Each time it has been something to do with the spring mechanism for the aperture on the inner ring (the bit that screws/turns onto the RZ body). Once manually cocked it was fine, but it does make you break out in a sweat for a while.
Can't guarantee that this is your particular problem, but worth checking. Hope this helps.
