I am now archiving a second copy of my Tiff files as JPEG2000 files with a filesize gain of 3-4. JPEG2000 is a lossless compression format.
Available as a free Photoshop plug-in at: http://www.fnordware.com/j2k/ There are two drawbacks: 1- Its a little bit slower than others format when reading or writing. 2- Its not widely distributed yet.
