Try this (if the other posts didn't work, or didn't please you): Convert to Lab - Select channels a and b - Apply Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur . Sometimes it works better if you apply different levels of blur in each channel. And, as you are already there, sharpen the L channel, if you like.
