Mark, It is doable to set up destination profiles (call it Composit, proofer, printer or whatever) in the ColorWise Pro tools, but it's the only place you'll make it work within your current applications. As an alternative you could consider buying into CompassPro XT which will allow you to use the profiles in Quark directly. The big problem is you need to turn off all simulations, improvements, enhancement etc, in the printer specific options before generating the profile. Forget one, and the profile is no good. And depending on the version of ColorWise Pro tools you have (version 3 is ok) you will have to generate a proofer profile with a black similar to that of your seperation profile (the one you simulate on the Canon), as Colorwise will simply use that for black. And of course if you snatch the black channel from one separation, the rest of the colours won't match unless the two profiles are VERY similar. Quality wise your best bet is probably to buy Compass Pro XT. If you want some more comprehensive details sign up to the ColorSync list server (www.apple.com) and search the archives for ColorWise Pro... >I've tried using it with the Colorsync > color matching option (choosing the profile), Which really is a cruel joke that you'd think may work but doesn't on 98% of all printers... Some of the Textronic Pahser printers actually can use this (while other Phasers can't). > and turning all cmyk > simulations OFF, but the prints are terrible. EPS files can't be colour managed out of Quark (I believe Compass Pro can though).
