Received a mailing from MacBibble today, selling the features (and extended range of camera files) of their updated software (3.1). A few people on the list have expressed preferences for Phase one over the PS plug in, but does anyone have strong opinions on MacBibble? There is a big price difference between Phase one and the other two - is there really a big difference in quality?
I had also asked about the similiarities/differences between Bible ,the Adobe plug in, and Nikon software with no reply. so I will state what CaptureOne can do for me in hopes that someone using Bible/Nikon will chime in.
First off I use a PhaseOn , shoot tethered to a MAC laptop, It captures raw files and instantly shows the shot in two windows:a capture collection, and a larger editing window. The larger version can be checked for sharpness, exposure. color accuracy, composition, etc. Within the software one can modify individual or batches of shots with tools like curves, levels, unsharp mask, crop tool and color balance. These tools are better utilized on raw data than from within Photoshop, although I do double check files and fine tune in Photoshop. Photoshop manipulates post processed tiff/jpg files, while modifing the raw data is a superior choice and has often saved a underexposed shot. I can also assign color space to files. All shots are rotated to correct orientation. Never crashed.
All shots can be named, placed within named folder.The capture collection can be named and individual shots moved between collections. Processing does not have to happen at the time of shooting.
NOW ...what can Bible do ..I believe the newest CaptureOne is available for Cannon raw only,not Nikon.
